What was your background before joining S—M?
My journey to date has been relatively mixed. I started out working in a client servicing role in the the loyalty space for a few years and worked on accounts for large hotel chains and their B2B and B2C loyalty programmes, before moving to a full-service creative agency. There I worked on things like multi-channel campaigns, brand refreshes and sales collateral for clients covering numerous industries from Train operators and Elevator manufacturers to Insurance companies and Charity organisations.
My subsequent roles were then focused specifically in the digital space centring on end-to-end corporate website builds and ongoing development of client websites, causing me to naturally shift into project management and the role I currently hold and enjoy.
“I suppose that’s what inspires me the most about it, how it makes you feel like you’re somewhere completely different”
An area of London you love to visit to get inspiration?
I grew up around Hampstead Heath in North/Northwest London and spent many days in the park as a child running around, cycling, picnicking, and exploring. Despite moving further afield as I’ve gotten older, I still manage to get down there a few times a year to do the same. The park is huge and it’s amazing that it’s relatively central in London as it really feels like you’re in the countryside. I suppose that’s what inspires me the most about it, how it makes you feel like you’re somewhere completely different.

What’s your passion outside of work?
I have quite a few hobbies/ passions outside of work which take turns in keeping me busy. I’m a big fan of sports and physical activities, so if I’m not in the gym or running around, you might find me at a local climbing centre scaling the walls and covered in chalk. I’m a big fan of music and a bit of an audiophile, and whilst not being able to play an instrument, I have been producing music since my teenage years – I find it a great way to experiment and be creative. Food and cooking is another passion of mine. I enjoy cooking all types of cuisine and try to make something new at least once a week, often from a recipe book or an idea found on YouTube.

Which is your ‘go-to’ album if you’d been asked to put something on in the studio?
Any album from the group, Tycho. Downtempo, melodic and chill. Good vibes and easy to work to. Some of Raymond’s favourite tracks make up part of our StudioMix playlist on Spotify below.
What’s your favourite piece of art and why?
When I was on holiday a few years ago, I went to an art exhibition in Florence and stumbled across some work from the photographer Massimo Listri. The imagery was all about large, empty interior spaces and was incredibly sharp and detailed. The size of the prints, perspective and sharpness made it feel like you were looking through a window and I couldn’t help but be captivated by them for the best part of an afternoon.

Check out some more of Massimo Listri’s work here.
