Celebrating 200 years of inspiring science
Founded in 1817 as assayers to test the purity of precious metals, Johnson Matthey, the FTSE 100 global leader in sustainable technologies, celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.
With an ambition to become one of the best performing, most trusted and admired speciality chemicals companies in the world, today the Group's science and research touches some of the most pressing challenges we face both now and in the future.
Our brief was to consolidate their 200 year story and achievements into an impactful and engaging book and animation which would also showcase the recent Johnson Matthey rebrand and be distributed with the Group Annual Report and shared at events and online.
Working across all aspects of the project inclusive of design, copywriting, print production and moving image, we needed to clearly communicate how inspiring science has always been the focus of what makes Johnson Matthey special.
Taking the reader on a journey through six time periods, the book and animation emphasise how Johnson Matthey has always been at the forefront of technological breakthroughs, finding ways to make life cleaner, healthier and more efficient.
Bringing together 200 years of history and looking to the next 200 years has helped to reinforce how Johnson Matthey’s expertise, products and technologies are focussed around a single-minded vision to help create a world that's cleaner and healthier; today and for future generations.
It’s a truly inspiring story and one which Johnson Matthey wanted to share with a range of stakeholders from shareholders, partners and customers to over 12,000 colleagues based in over 30 countries.
The book and animation have been really well received and so much so that after the initial English language version we have been commissioned to translate both the book and animation into multiple language versions.
