Frontier Developments

For the love of the game

Frontier are a world-class games development company with an enviable reputation of developing games for top publishers and now as pioneers in self-published games.

Any gamers from the 80’s will recall the seminal game Elite – a firm favourite for those BBC users seeking a truly progressive gaming experience. Co-authored by David Braben, Frontier was founded by David in 1994 in order to build a team to continue creating high quality, innovative games in the rapidly evolving games industry.

We initially started to work with the Communications and IR teams to design and deliver an improved Annual Report following their successful admission to AIM in 2013 and leading on from the design of the 2015 and 2016 reports we were then commissioned to redesign the corporate website.

Of paramount importance to David and the collective Frontier team is the love of the game – the premise behind the business always has and always will be to create critically acclaimed games that position them at the forefront of the world entertainment industry.

With this in mind, our brief was to design a site that conveyed this passion and commitment up-front, downplaying some of the more conventional expectations of regulatory information taking the lead.

Utilising video and animation alongside imagery that profiles their growing multi-platform games, the site conveys the personality of the business and plays an important role in helping to recruit talent with a competitive industry.

Working with their development team, we implemented the initial consultation and design stages, through to front-end development and handed over templates and guidelines for the Frontier team to implement the back-end development and content integration.

Having previously developed games for third-party publishers including Microsoft, Amazon, Konami and Atari, the redesign of the Group’s corporate site has aligned with Frontier’s exciting new chapter of self-publishing game franchises and will continue to play a key role in promoting Frontier's uniquely diverse track record in gaming excellence.
