In brief

We have worked with Seplat following their IPO and historic dual listing on both the London Stock Exchange and Nigerian Stock Exchange in April 2014.

During this time, we worked closely with the IR team to help them through the production of their first dual Exchange compliant Annual Report & Accounts in addition to designing and building a new corporate website for the Group.

Operating in challenging market conditions against a struggling oil price, Seplat’s strategic investment in the development of their gas exploration and production business has provided a strong operational and investment platform that has delivered a year of exceptional performance and strong results.


In addition to reporting on a transformational year for the Group, our work on the 2015 reporting suite was also the chance to further improve areas of best practice reporting alongside refining the design and pushing the brand identity further.

Another key requirement for the report was to profile the stand-out performance of the gas business which achieved 185% year-on-year revenue growth – we wanted to tell this story as a standalone piece whilst still integrating it into the main report itself in addition to providing the flexibility to work as an independent marketing piece.

To achieve this, we created a full-colour feature section on a narrower page width bound into the start of the report – this delivered the profile required for the gas business whilst not detracting from the report as a whole which is underpinned by a well established strategy focussed on building the leading independent Nigerian upstream oil and gas E&P company.

Given the relative infancy of the new brand identity we were conscious of not wanting to introduce radical changes but we were equally keen to add a further level of sophistication to this year's report .

Reducing the dominance of the primary blue, introducing more white space, improved levels of read and typographic hierarchies have helped to refine the report. The introduction of a distinct infographic style adds personality and aids cross-referencing and navigation throughout. We also commissioned a range of operational photography as part of the project to extend the Group's image library for use within the report and broader communications.

Alongside a number of visual developments, we also focussed across all areas of best practice areas including an extended market overview, improvements around the business model and linkage with strategy, principal risks and governance.

Working alongside the printed report, we also designed and built the online report to provide a fully optimised digital piece to deliver a hard working IR reporting suite and strategic communication tool for the coming year.
