We are on the lookout for a super-organised Mid-weight Digital Project Manager with a proven background in managing the delivery of corporate websites and related digital communications.

Working within our Client Services team and alongside consulting, account management, design, and development, the project management team is responsible for driving projects through on-time and on-budget.

Alongside day-to-day project control and oversight, our project managers are also key to providing a superb client experience from project kick-off to final delivery, ensuring clients feel assured and confident in our ability to manage all aspects of a project from start to finish.

Preferred background & experience


  • 3 years + in an agency digital project management role with a focus on B2B
  • Experience in delivering corporate and IR websites of varying scale from microsites to larger corporate sites with 6-figure project budgets
  • Working knowledge of Umbraco CMS

Would also consider:

  • Other agency / sector experience (e.g. B2C) with a strong digital focus
  • Client-side digital project management experience

Skills and expertise


  • Technical - understanding of web project methodology (strategy, UX & UI design, development), CMS systems, APIs and integrations, knowledge of scoping / specifying digital projects, knowledge of web standards (e.g. accessibility, device / software compatibility issues) and emerging developments
  • Project management - ability to provide end-to-end project management through all stages of a lifecycle including scoping, planning, budgeting, scheduling, project communications, risk management and project governance
  • Client management - strong communication and stakeholder management, ability to build strong client relationships and contribute towards account development 
  • Team working - ability to engage teams and work in a close, collaborative way with colleagues (account management, creative, consulting, technical) to deliver best-in-class work and create the best possible client experience
  • Financial management - highly numerate with a strong understanding of all areas of agency financial management
  • Written output - excellent level of written work with the ability to write clear and engaging statements of work, functional specifications and contribution to proposals, presentation content and reports


  • Knowledge of B2B sector, investor relations, PLC organisations and IPOs
  • Relevant project management qualification (e.g. Prince2, PMI)
  • Working knowledge of MacOS and key applications (Pages, Keynote), Microsoft Office 365 and Synergist agency management software

Key responsibilities

The role of the Digital Project Manager is to oversee and deliver digital projects for our clients. We have a fully in-house digital offer from strategy and consulting, UX and UI design, development (specialising in working with the Umbraco CMS), through to hosting and support. The Digital Project Manager will work closely with internal teams (including account management, creative, consulting and technical) to ensure that work is delivered to best-in-class standards, efficiently and on schedule.

Project delivery:

  • Scoping and specifying digital projects, taking time to fully understand client requirements and writing detailed, well-thought-out statements of works
  • Planning and scheduling projects, ensuring there is a clear process that is properly resourced with mitigation of any risks
  • Ongoing coordination and management of the internal agency teams, ensuring that all parties are thoroughly briefed, working to agreed deadlines, aligned to the agreed objectives and delivering the highest quality of work
  • Hands-on support with debugging, snagging, content upload, site updates and other ad-hoc requirements
  • Client communication including verbal, written and in-person, ensuring that all client stakeholders are effectively serviced
  • Creation of clear, well-written client documentation including briefs, contact reports and presentation content
  • Leading client meetings including presentations, workshops and status meetings; steering the meetings and contributing a considered, valuable point of view

Client relationship development:

  • Foster effective working relationships with client contacts as a trusted, reliable partner, advisor and ambassador of SampsonMay
  • Provide ongoing, post-launch project management support to clients
  • Work to create an excellent client experience at every point of interaction
  • Support the development and conversion of new opportunities by elevating our agency profile and anticipating client needs
  • Contribute to Key Account Planning where relevant
  • Support the preparation, delivery and presentation of exceptional credentials decks, proposals and other key deliverables

Financial management:

  • Strong management of all key financial metrics including revenue and profitability
  • Work with the agency team to ensure our projects are costed correctly, run as effectively and efficiently as possible and time and costs are allocated correctly - making the relevant interventions to protect the agency’s margins 


  • Contribute to a strong agency culture by demonstrating our values, collaborating with and supporting all team members 
  • Support with the dissemination of digital knowledge and skills within the agency 
  • Contribution to new business activity by proactively spotting prospects and opportunities and participating in new business pitches
