A senior role within the creative studio, the Design Director role is the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and foster a strong creative culture within the design studio and to mentor and develop junior members of the design team. This role reports to the Executive Creative Director.

The Role

A senior role within the creative studio, the Design Director role is the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and foster a strong creative culture within the design studio and to mentor and develop junior members of the design team. This role reports to the Executive Creative Director.

We are looking for a super talented individual, enthusiastic leader, self-motivated, articulate Senior Digital Designer that has been working in corporate brand communications environment. With 6–10 years under your belt, you will have worked across a mixture of digital channels and applications and will be looking for a fresh challenge in a leading creative business communications agency.

Overall Purpose

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to develop a career within an established communications agency and help to shape the future success of our business. A senior role within the creative studio, ensuring the delivery of strategically-led, creative design solutions in response to client briefs and brand requirements. Responsible for the creative development of projects with their team from initial research and briefing through to final project delivery. Works with clients and team members to produce design excellence, balanced with meeting deadlines and budgets.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of all aspects of digital design, from screen sizes and pixels to accessibility and human computer interaction
  • Strategy focused and takes the creative lead on assigned accounts.
  • Own client projects by thoroughly researching and understanding both the client and their business in addition to the requirements and intricacies of individual project briefs. The Design Director needs to take responsibility for understanding a client organisation, market and operations in order to think strategically about design solutions and not rely on all information to be supplied by colleagues.
  • Head and manage work intake and overall design project assignment process to ensure that work is on brief and delivers artistic excellence. Create unique design solutions which will surprise and delight clients.
  • Attend new business meetings, pitches and client meetings as required.
  • The lead design contact for clients by developing client relationships from initial client contact/briefing to presenting work and subsequently receiving design feedback directly from clients and managing the implementation of this within the team
  • Solid understanding of client deliverables and the ability to take responsibility for them.
  • The ability to articulate an idea in its basic form through conceptual sketches, animation or moving image to clients, account and other creative team members.
  • Presenting your work confidently and with flair (internally and externally to clients)
  • Meeting project milestones and delivering within budgets
  • Supporting the Executive Creative Director in raising the standards of the studio and creative output
  • Mentoring less experienced members and directly line managing one or two junior designers
  • Bring ideas to life through great looking presentations with clearly written rationales
  • Art direct image-makers, including illustrators, photographers, film makers and animators too create content for digital channels
  • Work closely with front and back end developers to bring your creative vision to life
  • Strong software skills – Sketch & InVision, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Effectively collaborates with colleagues to resolve complex communication issues and relate well with all levels of the agency.
  • Effectively manage your own time and prioritise
  • Update project managers and senior members of the team on their workload and the completion of tasks
