We must apologise for the delay in posting this article but we've been nice and busy doing some lovely work for clients and, as ever, our own marketing has been a little overlooked! But here's a few pages from
Unibet's latest Annual Report.
Unibet are one of the largest online gambling operators in the European market with over 4.4 million customers worldwide. Following an initial tender process we were appointed to design and produce their 2009 printed report in both English and Swedish.
The report works hard to add increased KPIs and drive the strategy throughout the report with the introduction of case studies and a dedicated strategy section.
In addition to the overall design, management and pre-/on-press print management, we also undertook all of the translation and Swedish typesetting as well running the production stage through
CtrlPrint.
From AIM to FTSE

We have just produced the latest Annual Report and Accounts for Afren plc, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company with pan-African operations across six countries.
We produced Afren's
2008 report but, having migrated to the main market towards the end of 2009, this years report is considerably harder working both in terms of added disclosure requirements but also in delivering against the enhanced business review requirements in the Companies Act 2006.

Juggling numbers...

Often, half the challenge of annual reporting projects can be maintaining control over the administrative workflow process as it is managing the content, messaging and design of the report.
We have been successfully offering a number of workflow solutions to clients in order to help coordinate and manage the process of proofing and editing client content through a single source file.
As well as working in the 'traditional' manner of PDF proofing and tracked Word documents we are also working with clients through Word templates and
CtrlPrint.
CtrlPrint works around the basic principle of allowing a number of licensed client side users access to our InDesign files through a secure server. Users have varying levels of control, with the most common being the ability to add and edit copy...leaving the tidying up of files and the implementation of any design and artworking challenges to us.
Whilst at first it may sound daunting, it 's not – there is no need to work on apple macs or complicated programs – all you need is your PC and a copy of InCopy and this simplicity is being proven by the rapid uptake by a number of global PLCs embracing the flexibility and control that such workflow solutions offer.
If you're looking for a money saving option then this is not necessarily going to cut budgets extensively (although if you're prone to running up large numbers of proofs it will) but what it does offer is a 24/7 secure central portal for your annual reporting documents.
In addition to this, and arguably most importantly, it reduces the number of mark-ups and adhoc amendments which in-turn reduces the scope for errors or omissions.
Over and above the editing of documents, it also allows users to generate their own PDF proofs, circulate proofs and messages to workflow users and follow a full audit trail of all proofing stages of documents.
Given the nature of annual reports, the project control offered by
CtrlPrint is an obvious choice but we are also working with client communication/marketing teams to offer the same service for a broader selection of projects (e.g. corporate literature and marketing communications).

Close but no cigar

Last week saw the glamour and glitz of the annual Investor Relations Society Awards Dinner, held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Gardens.
As detailed in a previous news entry, we were delighted to hear that we had been shortlisted for the Best Practice Corporate Website: Small Cap & AIM for our work with Advent Capital (Holdings) PLC which, in our view, is an achievement in its own right!
Sadly, we were pipped to the post on the night but a throughly good evening was had by all and to be nominated in this arena is a testament to the development of our digital side of the business to provide a broad cross-section of digital solutions for our clients.
Whether clients are looking for the basics of an HTML email campaign/publishing editor or a full blown website, we have the capability to deliver a great solution for them. On the web development side, we have always been conscious of the need to provide different approaches for different demands and budgets.

We have just been appointed by Modern Water plc to produce their 2009 Annual Report and Accounts.
Modern Water are a young and exciting company developing a portfolio of world-leading water technologies that help to address the global problems of fresh water availability and the treatment and disposal of wastewater.
We're really excited to not only be appointed to work on a new project for a new client but also to be involved in such an interesting and important business sector.
IR Society – Awards shortlisting

We’re pleased to announce that our digital work with Advent Capital (Holdings) plc has been shortlisted in the Investor Relations Society Best Practice Awards 2009 for Best-practice corporate website 2009 within the Small Cap & AIM category.
The Awards will be held on 26 November but regardless of the outcome I’m sure it’ll be a good night for all involved. We’ll let you know how we get on…
Afren plc website launch

We were appointed last year to work with Afren plc on their Annual Report and Accounts – in addition to the annual and interim reports, we were also commissioned to design and build a new corporate website which launched this week.
The site has an underlying bespoke CMS which provides the Afren team with a powerful and easy to use interface to manage the whole site, including an integrated HTML email database and mailing editor.

Rio Tinto Fact Sheet Templates

Following on from our earlier work with Rio Tinto redesigning Review magazine SampsonMay have been commissioned to redesign and template their product communications literature. The brief will be to first look at their product fact sheets starting with Iron Ore, Diamonds, Aluminum, Exploration, Industrial Minerals finishing with their Corporate profile. The project is due for roll out late September and we will post some more news as it happens.
